Podgorica, (MINA) – President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, proposed to his Albanian colleague, Bajram Begaj, to mark the 110th anniversary of the martyrdom of Montenegrin volunteers from America near the Albanian port of Shengjin by installing a memorial plaque.
Milatovic said that, on the sidelines of the Brdo-Brioni Process leaders’ summit in Durres, he talked with Begaj about setting up a memorial plaque in memory of nearly 400 volunteers who left by ship from America to help defend Montenegro in the First World War.
“I suggested that next year, on the 110th anniversary of the tragedy, we place a symbolic memorial plaque near the port of Shengjin to pay tribute to those who gave their lives for Montenegro”, Milatovic told the reporters following the summit.
