Podgorica, (MINA) – President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic has called on the Government and the Parliament to systemically address the issue of salaries and remuneration in the judiciary, based on clear and measurable performance criteria, responsibility and results.
Milatovic wrote on the X social network that, regarding the planned 30 percent salary increase in the judiciary which is to be adopted at the Parliament’s session, it is his duty to point out what, as he said, citizens already feel.
“At the moment when parts of the judiciary and the prosecution are not delivering justice, it is not fair to use temporary solutions to increase everyone’s salaries as if the system is functioning without flaws”, Milatovic said.
He said that “individuals responsible for delays in justice should not be rewarded, noting that statute of limitations have expired in numerous cases, such as the Telecom case, and that justice is often lacking”.
“That’s why I call on the Government and the Parliament to systemically address the issue of salaries and remuneration in the judiciary, based on clear and measurable performance criteria, responsibility and results”, stated Milatovic.
He said that trust and respect are earned through actions.
