Milatovic: Focus must remain on chapters 23 and 24

Podgorica, (MINA) - In the continuation of Montenegro’s EU accession process, special attention must remain on chapters 23 and 24, on real, measurable reforms in the areas of the rule of law, justice, freedom and security, said President Jakov Milatovic.

Milatovic met in Munich, where he is participating in a security conference, with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

Milatovic wrote on the X social network that the meeting focused on the enlargement process, geopolitical challenges and the dynamics of EU accession.

He recalled that Montenegro, with 13 closed chapters, remains the most advanced EU membership candidate and aims to speed up the process by closing the remaining chapters by the end of the year.

“Special attention must be on chapters 23 and 24, on real, measurable reforms in the area of the rule of law, as well as justice, freedom and security. I invited the High Representative to visit Montenegro ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Summit. Substance, not form, will be the true measure of our success”, Milatovic said.
