Podgorica, (MINA) – Tuesday’s overwhelming support in the Parliament unequivocally confirmed why Montenegro will become the next EU member state in 2028, Parliament Speaker and leader of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) Andrija Mandic said.

In a statement on the occasion of Tuesday vote in the Parliament, which supported the initiative to launch the procedure to amend the Constitution, Mandic stated that joining the family of developed and democratic European countries would provide all citizens of Montenegro with the opportunity for a better and safer life.

“In this context, I especially want to highlight members of my Serbian people, who until 2020 faced discrimination, institutional neglect and unequal opportunities for employment and advancement”, said Mandic.

According to him, today the situation has been fundamentally changed.

“We have achieved historic results: the Serbian people, as well as all other peoples in Montenegro, live better, and by joining the EU, their standard of living will further improve”, Mandic said.

He added that the NSD has a plan for everyone.

“Through the “New Serbian response for new times”, together with expanding the circle of our allies and strengthening our political position, we will be able to resolve issues of vital importance to our people and contribute to a more stable, just and European future for Montenegro”, Mandic pointed out.
