Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic said that this year has seen an increase in the number of tourists, adding the shared goal must be to continue this trend while attracting sustainable investments that will further enhance the country’s tourism.

 

“This year we are seeing growth in tourist numbers, which confirms that we are on the right path. Our shared goal must be to maintain this trend while also attracting good, sustainable investments that will further improve our tourism products,” Kordic told the Mina-business agency on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

 

She noted that World Tourism Day is an opportunity to highlight the importance of this sector, which directly or indirectly supports nearly every citizen in Montenegro.

 

 

Director of the National Tourism Organization (NTO) Ana Tripkovic Markovic, said that celebrating World Tourism Day under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation” once again reminds us that Montenegro has both the opportunity and the responsibility to develop tourism in a way that preserves its most valuable assets: nature, culture, and people.

 

She added that the NTO is implementing numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainability of Montenegrin tourism, one of the most important being the Montenegro Quality project.

 

“The main goal of this project is to highlight, through a certification process, those in Montenegro who prioritize sustainability,” Tripkovic Markovic told Mina-business.

 

 

 

 

To mark World Tourism Day, the NTO, the Ministry of Tourism, local tourist boards of Herceg Novi and Tivat, and representatives of the tourism industry from the Lustica peninsula jointly organized a series of activities.
