Konatar: Urgent need to re-launch the Stop Inflation campaign

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to head of the parliamentary club of the United Reform Action (URA) Milos Konatar, the price hikes have nullified the effect of wage growth and threatened citizens’ living standards.

In his opinion, the Stop Inflation campaign needs to be re-launched as soon as possible.

“Price increases have cancelled out the effect of wage growth and threatened citizens’ living standards, not to mention the impact of inflation on pensioners. The government remains silent and inactive in the face of this alarming price rise, which is unacceptable,” Konatar said.

He also pointed to a report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to which inflation in August reached 4.6 percent with an upward trend.

“Inflation is accelerating, and unfortunately, projections indicate that price growth will continue into the fourth quarter. We urgently need consultations with the Chamber of Commerce and employers’ associations to quickly introduce measures to halt or mitigate price increases, by re-launching the Stop Inflation campaign, reducing tax burdens on priority groups of products and services, and stabilizing the business environment,” Konatar concluded.
