Jokovic at regional conference in Tajikistan

Dushanbe, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Challenges limiting agricultural development and the livelihoods of rural population, which Montenegro faces due to its mountainous terrain and insufficient infrastructure investment, were discussed at a meeting between representatives of the Montenegrin Government and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Dushanbe.
At this event, organized within the framework of the Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Jokovic and FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu discussed possibilities for securing technical assistance for Montenegro.
According to a press release from the Ministry, support would be provided for the diversification of rural areas, the development of agrotourism, sustainable forest management, and the use of small-scale agricultural machinery adapted to mountainous regions.
The Ministry stated that Jokovic participated in the FAO Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia, which is being held this week in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
“The Ministry has long-standing and successful cooperation with FAO in strengthening institutional capacities, implementing reform policies, and providing technical support for new investments, as well as in preparing Montenegro for EU accession, which is reflected in the implementation of the current Cooperation Programme Framework,” the press release reads.
