Ivanovic: DPS to explain if they exchanged information with United Russia

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) should explain whether, when and how it exchanged information with United Russia about international relations and the situation in Montenegro, said Deputy Prime Minister and Europe Now Movement official Filip Ivanovic.

He said that under public pressure, the DPS decided to disclose the agreement that the party signed with United Russia.

In a post on the X social network, Ivanovic stated that the DPS MPs, aware of the political damage caused by the agreement, are trying to downplay the importance of the cooperation with the party of Russian President Vladimir Putin through “unskilled verbal acrobatics”.

“In one such attempt, they implicitly questioned my participation in the Budapest Balkan Forum, where I spoke about Montenegro’s European path and, in line with the usual practice, met with representatives of the host country”, Ivanovic said.

“Instead of maliciously interpreting the meetings between Montenegrin officials and EU and NATO countries counterparts, the DPS should explain if, when and how it exchanged information with United Russia about international relations and the situation in Montenegro”, Ivanovic said.

He added that the issue of the nature and content of such an exchange has been further actualized by the anti-European and destructive behavior of the DPS in the very year when Montenegro should end negotiations with the EU.

According to Ivanovic, all this is not surprising considering the long-term political and business ties of former Montenegrin officials “with various individuals from Russia”.

Ivanovic said that these relations resulted in numerous questionable deals and investments, some of which seriously damaged Montenegrin economy.
