Hoo Trails Experience: A new tourism concept in Montenegro

Hoo Trails Experience: A new tourism concept in Montenegro

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Center for Protection and Research of Birds (CZIP), the Hoo project, which combines nature protection with the development of sustainable tourism, could bring added value to Montenegro and the region.

The project was developed out of the need to recognize and tap certain potentials, such as those found in the northeastern part of Montenegro and the border areas with Serbia, which, despite their rich biodiversity, have long remained outside the main tourist routes.

The Hoo project, titled “Creation of Owl and Other Wildlife Experiences,” was implemented by CZIP in partnership with the NGO North Land from Berane, the Regional Tourism Organization Sandzak, and the association Jadovnik – Oasis of Untouched Nature from Serbia, with financial support from the EU through the IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Serbia–Montenegro 2014–2020.

The project focuses on the development of tourism products based on wildlife observation, unified under the Hoo Trails Experience brand.

CZIP Director Jovana Janjusevic said that the Hoo Trails Experience concept represents a new tourism brand based on thematic trails and nature-based experiences, through which visitors can explore the region’s biodiversity, especially birds such as owls, eagles, and other wildlife species.

This approach caters to the needs of modern tourists who increasingly seek experiences rather than just destinations.

“Through these routes, visitors can observe wildlife in natural habitats, experience guided tours through forests and mountains, as well as local culture and rural lifestyles,” Janjusevic added.

The project was developed in response to a concrete need to better tap the region’s potential.
