Podgorica, (MINA) - A prosecutorial-political criminal association aimed at influencing electoral will and the formation of the government is ongoing in Montenegro, the Presidency of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) has assessed.

According to the press release from this party, the Presidency concluded during the Wednesday session that the operation, which started on Friday, formalized the formation of a prosecutorial-political criminal association.

“Aimed at influencing the electoral will and political conditions in the country, with the goal of forming a government that would serve the interests of this organized criminal group”, the DPS statement added.

The party stated that the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) is not acting on official, but on party orders.

“The reality-TV-like arrests, carried out by Prosecutor Vladimir Novovic on behalf of the parliamentary majority, confirm what the DPS has been asserting all this time – that the SPO is not prosecuting on official grounds, but on party orders”, the DPS said.

According to them, the SPO “is using constructed messages and, through controlled media outlets attempts to publicly defame political opponents, which is a classic example of abuse of official position”.
