Podgorica, (MINA) – The designation of the Skadar Lake Watershed as one of the 14 new UNESCO biosphere reserves confirms that Montenegro is on the right track and that the policies it has been implementing are recognized at the international level, said Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North Damjan Culafic.
 
According to the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North (MERS), Culafic expressed satisfaction with the fact that Skadar Lake, which is partially located in Montenegro, received the same status at the Albanian side, which opens new opportunities for joint access and cooperation within the UNESCO “Man and the Biosphere” program.
 
“Thus, this will further strengthen the sustainable management of this unique area”, added Culafic. 
 
That status, he said, underscores the importance of preserving natural values.
