Podgorica, (MINA) – The institutions of the system have demonstrated commitment to end the decade-long environmental devastation with the “Kayak” operation, said Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Damjan Culafic.

According to the press release from the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Culafic stated that the operation, which was carried out on Friday in Zeta in cooperation with the Regional Waterworks, as well as the competent institutions, demonstrated that the fight against environmental crime is no longer just declarative.

He recalled that, based on the warrant and in cooperation with the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, four people were arrested on suspicion of illegal gravel extraction from the Moraca river bad in the village of Mitrovici.

“The institutions of the system have hereby demonstrated the commitment to end a decades-long environmental devastation, that the law applies equally to everyone and that illegal exploitation of natural resources is inadmissible”, said Culafic.
