Crisis Plan adopted for resolving disruptions in fuel supply

Crisis Plan adopted for resolving disruptions in fuel supply

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – At the proposal of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Government has adopted a Crisis Plan for resolving disruptions in the supply of petroleum products, establishing for the first time a defined response system in the event of serious disruptions on the fuel market.

The Ministry explained that this is one of the most important steps taken by the department in the field of energy security, with the aim of ensuring that citizens and businesses remain protected even in conditions of global crises and instability in energy markets.

The plan was prepared over a longer period by the Ministry and other competent institutions, and is aligned with European standards and the practices of the EU and the Energy Community.

“Although fuel supply in Montenegro is currently regular and stable, international circumstances show how quickly disruptions can occur on the global oil market. Geopolitical tensions, uncertainties surrounding key transport routes, as well as warnings from the International Energy Agency about possible disruptions and rising prices, further confirm the importance of having an action plan in advance,” the Ministry said in a press release.

As explained, the Crisis Plan precisely defines what the state will do in the event of supply problems, who makes decisions, how fuel reserves are activated, and how citizens and businesses are protected.
