Criminal proceedings against Katnic and Cadjenovic begin

 

Podgorica, (MINA) - A judge of the Special Division of the Podgorica High Court  has scheduled the main hearing, which marks the beginning of the criminal proceedings against former Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnic and Special Prosecutor Sasa Cadejenovic, suspected of abuse of office and unlawful influence.

 

The Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) announced that the High Court judge scheduled the main hearing after a preliminary examination, and sent summonses to the parties involved.

 

“This marks the beginning of criminal proceedings against the defendants M.K., former chief special prosecutor and head of the SDT and S.C, special prosecutor in this prosecutor’s office, suspended from duty due to another criminal proceeding, according to the indictment of the SDT filed on reasonable suspicion that as co-perpetrators they committed the extended criminal offense of abuse of office and the criminal offense of unlawful influence”, the press release said.

 

It is stated that the subject of the indictment and the criminal proceedings is the joint decision by the defendants to reach an agreement with the legal representative of US citizen Joseph Assad, against whom the SDT and Cadjenovic had previously initiated criminal proceedings for the offenses of creation of a criminal organization and aiding attempted terrorism, to come to Montenegro and testify in the way the defendants require him to in the proceedings before the Podgorica High Court against leaders of the former Democratic Front, Andrija Mandic and Milan Knezevic.
