Buljarica development to serve people and nature

Buljarica development to serve people and nature

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – It was concluded at a discussion panel hosted by the Montenegrin Society of Ecologists (CDE) in Petrovac that Buljarica is not for sale, and the development of this area can and should serve both people and nature.

According to a press release from CDE, the panellists noted that Buljarica has lacked valid planning documents for over ten years.

During the public debate titled “The Future of Buljarica,” they recalled that quality development plans had previously been created for the area through cooperation between Montenegrin and German experts under the European Development Agency.

However, those documents have never been used and integrated into the spatial planning process.

Panellists included spatial planner Dragoljub Markovic, tourism expert Rade Ratkovic, local resident and owner of the Maslina campsite in Buljarica Miso Zaradic, and Milos Vukovic of Fidelity Consulting.

The discussion also highlighted the risks posed by the new Law on Strategic Investments, which, if adopted, would exclude the public from decision-making and facilitate the rapid sale and overdevelopment of Montenegro’s most valuable areas.

Participants noted that the Budva Municipality and the Government react only when large-scale projects and questionable investors emerge, while remaining silent when locals request investments in basic infrastructure, such as roads, drainage systems, and conditions for small business development.
