Budget deficit reaches €97.2 million

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Ministry of Finance, Montenegro saw a budget deficit of €97.2 million in the first seven months of this year, equivalent to only 1.2 percent of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP).

“This is €31.2 million better than planned,” the Ministry stated in a press release.

The Ministry noted that a current expenditure surplus of €33.5 million was recorded in the same period, reflecting financial discipline and sustainable public spending.

“Public finances have been managed responsibly and efficiently in the first seven months of the year, as confirmed by stronger-than-planned fiscal results. The overall fiscal outlook remains stable, supported by careful management of revenues and expenditures,” the Ministry added.

Budget revenues reached €1.58 billion in the first seven months, €6 million more than in the same period last year.

In July alone, revenues amounted to €256.1 million, exceeding the plan by 4.8 percent, with expenditures kept under control.
