Podgorica, (MINA) – A warning strike will take place in almost all schools in Montenegro on Monday over the reduction of teachers’ salaries by up to EUR 50 as a result of the use of centralized calculation system, said president of the Education Trade Union (SPCG) Radomir Bozovic, adding that the strike will not disrupt classes.
Bozovic told Pobjeda daily that in this way they want to warn the authorities that they must comply with regulations and that the teachers’ salaries had been reduced in violation of official acts.
According to him, the warning strike will not disrupt classes, meaning that the professors will hold meetings outside of class time to discuss the current problem.
The Union representative said that after the strike they will give the authorities 15 days to correct the salary calculation so that no one’s salary will be reduced.
If no compromise is reached, the Main Board will convene the session to consider further steps, which may include suspension of classes, mass protests or other forms of escalation.
