Bojovic: PES does not allow NSD to vote for withdrawal of Kosovo recognition

Bojovic: PES does not allow NSD to vote for withdrawal of Kosovo recognition

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Europe Now Movement (PES) is preventing the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) from making a contribution to the withdrawal of Montenegro’s recognition of Kosovo, despite it has the real influence and power in the Government, said Vladislav Bojovic, president of the Pljevlja committee of the Democratic People’s Party (DNP).

Chair of NSD Pljevlja board, Milan Lekic, announced earlier on Saturday that the party would wait to see the scope and potential results of the initiative to withdraw the recognition of Kosovo in the Municipality of Zeta, before making a decision on possible support for a similar initiative in Pljevlja.

In his reaction, Bojovic stated that NSD councilors in Zeta voted in favor of withdrawing  the decision on Kosovo recognition and that they did not raise any concern regarding the scope of the initiative at that time.

He added that Lekic’s colleagues cover a large number of positions in the Government, adding that he does not want to believe that their positions are more important to Lekic and NSD than issues such as the withdrawal of “the most shameful decision on the recognition of the so-called Kosovo”.

According to Bojovic, the DNP left the Government because Prime Minister Milojko Spajic did not want to initiate constitutional amendments that would standardize the Serbian language as official, nor did he want to support the initiative on dual citizenship, or facilitate the return of people’s tricolor flag.

“The position from Mr. Lekic’s statement: “The impression is that the only consequence of this resolution is the possible disruption of relations among neighbors from Zeta and Malesia”, does not deserve to be commented on. It speaks volumes about his logic that in 2026, when you are a government official, you should avoid addressing the most important issues concering the Serbian people”, the reaction says.
