Banks’ liquid assets €1.44 billion 

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the statistics released by the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), the average liquid assets of Montenegrin banks increased by 3.5 percent in June to €1.44 billion.

 

Compared with last year’s corresponding period, the average liquid assets increased by 5.67 percent in June.

The liquidity index of the banking system was above the required minimum in this period. 

 

At the end of June, the combined balance of all banks amounted to €7.41 billion, 1.1 percent more than in May, and 10.51 percent more than in the same period last year.


In the overall structure of banks’ assets, the highest share was that of loans at 67.83 percent, securities at 17.18 percent, and cash and deposits with central banks at 11.74 percent, while other categories of assets accounted for 3.25 percent.

 

In the overall structure of liabilities, deposits had the highest share of 77.07 percent, followed by capital and loans at 12.88 percent and 5.86 percent respectively. Other categories of liabilities accounted for the remaining 4.19 percent.


At the end of June, the total capital of banks amounted to €954.83 million, up 0.77 percent from May and 14.44 percent more at the annual level.
