Zero tolerance for illegal construction and informal economy during the summer season

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister without Portfolio Milutin Butorovic and Executive Director of Morsko Dobro Mladen Mikijelj agreed that protecting the environment and preserving Montenegro’s image as a tourist destination are shared priorities.

With the aim of ensuring the best possible preparation and coordination for the upcoming summer tourist season, a meeting was held today between Butorovic, who also serves as President of the Coordination Body for the harmonization and monitoring of inspection oversight, and Mikijelj, along with their associates.

“The main topic of discussion was the synchronization of activities of all competent authorities to ensure the full legality of operations of all entities on the Montenegrin coast,” the Ministry said in a press release.

The focus was placed on three key priorities: combating the informal economy, curbing unregistered accommodation, and strictly enforcing the rule that 50 percent of coastal space intended for public beaches must remain free of beach furniture.

“Unauthorized use of public areas or unlawful operations will not be tolerated, and close cooperation between the Coordination Body and Morsko Dobro will continue on a daily basis throughout the season,” the press release concludes.
