Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Wizz Air will formally open its base at Podgorica Airport tomorrow.
As previously announced, with the opening of the base, Wizz Air will station two modern Airbus A321neo aircraft in Podgorica and launch 17 new routes connecting Montenegro’s capital with key European cities: Malmo, Paris, Hamburg, Maastricht, Catania (Sicily), Bratislava, Barcelona, Basel, Rzeszow, Rome, Baden-Baden, Cologne, Ljubljana, Poznan, Vilnius, Gdansk, and Wroclaw.
Wizz Air has been continuously expanding its presence in Montenegro since launching its first flight between Podgorica and Milan Bergamo in 2016, having transported nearly two million passengers to and from the country since then. Today, the company offers 24 routes from Podgorica to 12 countries, and with the opening of the base, Wizz Air will become the number one airline at Podgorica Airport and the largest carrier in Montenegro overall.
This expansion comes as Wizz Air continues to grow across Europe. Last year, the company added 42 new aircraft to its fleet, launched more than 320 new routes, and carried 68.6 million passengers. Entering this year, the company aims to serve more than 80 million passengers, further strengthening its position as one of Europe’s leading low-cost carriers.
By launching new routes and opening a base in Podgorica, Wizz Air will bring improved connectivity, more travel opportunities, and additional economic benefits to Montenegro.
