Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Citizens and visitors already have the opportunity to use free WiFi at selected public locations in Danilovgrad, Rozaje, Bijelo Polje, Ulcinj, Bar, and Tivat, while by September this year, free public internet will be available in a total of 24 municipalities across Montenegro.

 

One Montenegro announced that all of this is part of the WiFi4WB initiative, co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the Government of Germany, and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) within the EU4Digital project.

 

In this European initiative, One plays the role of a strategic telco partner in implementing infrastructure, as well as strengthening digital inclusion on Montenegro’s path to the EU.

 

Executive Director of One Branko Mitrovic said that the internet is now a basic necessity of society. 

 

 

 

“Precisely for that reason, it is an honour for One to be part of the WiFi4WB initiative, which gives us the opportunity to provide citizens across the country with reliable internet access. We believe this idea has significant infrastructural value, while at the same time connecting communities and creating equal digital opportunities for all,” said Mitrovic, adding that by participating in this initiative as a telco operator, One once again confirms its long-term position as Montenegro’s digital partner on its European path.

 

Following the official launch of the initiative in Danilovgrad in February, where one of the first public WiFi networks was established, the project is gradually expanding to other municipalities.
