Podgorica, (MINA) – A major cleanup of the main roads and illegal landfills across Montenegro ahead of the summer season was launched on Thursday with an action at the Debeli Brijeg border crossing, the Europe House announced.
According to the press release, the campaign is being carried out as part of the national “Čuvaj da te čuva” campaign, while the activities will continue along main roads leading to the coast, focusing on concrete and visible problems.
The Europe House stated that improvement of the space and enhancing transport and logistics conditions has been announced at the Debeli Brijeg border crossing, emphasizing the importance of well-maintained and functional border crossings as the first impression for visitors entering Montenegroworks.
"In the Orjen area, a large quantity of illegally disposed waste tires is being removed, which is one of the largest recorded sites of this kind in the country”, the press release said.
They add that the action marks the beginning of an organized approach to solving this issue.
The press release further notes that the cleanup activities are also being organized in Lipci, Tivat, and the Lustica Bay area.
The Europe House said that the goal is clear: to improve the appearance and maintenance of roads, remove illegal landfills, and establish a practice of regular maintenance of the locations most visible to citizens and visitors.
