Vukovic: Montenegro delivers measurable results

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Montenegro is not a candidate that waits, but a country that delivers measurable results, said Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic, adding that they have worked hard to achieve a political and reform transformation from a candidate into an important partner.

He met with the Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Alfred Kammer, to discuss Montenegro’s economic stability and European agenda, as the next member of the European Union and a credible partner to international institutions.

Kammer congratulated the Government, especially the Ministry of Finance, on its achievements, particularly in the field of fiscal indicators.

“This is a success story that shows a clear development path. The IMF is here to provide expert support, but Montenegro deserves recognition for the results achieved,” Kammer said during the meeting, which marked the conclusion of Vukovic’s visit to Washington.

Vukovic recalled the notable results achieved by the Ministry of Finance in fulfilling obligations from last year’s EU Accession Programme. He noted that this is not merely an administrative success, but proof of the maturity of the financial system and the ability to make and implement decisions in the most demanding phase of negotiations, all with the support of credible partners such as the IMF.

Vukovic expressed confidence that Montenegro is completely ready to take on all obligations ahead in the final phase of achieving its main foreign policy goal, full EU membership by 2028.
