Podgorica, (MINA) - The government in Montenegro, due to its own immaturity demonstrated during the political debate in the Parliament, decided to take away the floor from the opposition and sabotage its activities, said MP of the Democratic Party of Socialists Aleksandra Vukovic Kuc, adding that she would inform the European Commission about it.
The parliamentary session was interrupted on Wednesday after Deputy Speaker and Europe Now Movement (PES) MP Boris Pejovic took the floor from Vukovic Kuc for, as he said, non-compliance with the Rules of Procedure.
In her press release, Vukovic Kuc stated that Pejovic’s behavior represents an attack on freedom of speech and that PES is in “big trouble”.
“The fact that PES is in a serious problem is evidenced by the behavior of Pejovic, a member of the Presidency of this once promising political group, which has been completely stripped by a failed economic program, but also by an ideology identical to that of Andrija Mandic”, Vukovic Kuc said.
She said that she would inform the European Commission about what she described as an outrageous attack on freedom of speech.
According to Vukovic Kuc, PES, while presenting itself as a civic-oriented political force, has allowed Montenegrin society to become polarized and radicalized.
“Even the Speaker, coming from the right-wing New Serbian Democracy, have never fallen into the trap of taking the floor of the opposition MPs, while the “democratic and modern” PES is doing so without realizing that it is undermining Montenegro’s negotiating position”, said Vukovic Kuc.
She said that the government, which deals with the opposition the way Pejovic is doing, demonstrates not only its dictatorial potential, but also its conscious willingness to work against Montenegro’s European integration.
