Vitomirovic: Montenegro fully committed to fulfilling all requirements by year-end

Podgorica, (MINA) - Montenegro is fully committed to meeting all Roadmap obligations in order to achieve the final benchmarks under Chapter 27 by the end of the year, said State Secretary in the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development (MERS) and the negotiator in charge of Cluster 4, Nenad Vitomirovic.
According to the press release from MERS, he co-chaired the 19th meeting of the EU- Montenegro Transport, Environment, Energy and Regional Policy Subcommittee in Brussels.
Vitomirovic, who heads the working group for Chapter 27, said that Montenegro is fully committed to speeding up activities to meet all obligations, including eight final benchmarks within this Chapter, in accordance with the Roadmap.
“In this context, all relevant packages of regulations covering the legislative framework for these standards have been prepared and submitted within the deadline”, stated Vitomirovic.
He said that since the beginning of March, the European Commission (EC) has received an extensive package that includes 11 laws, more than 95 by-laws and four strategies from all sub-areas.
“Although a significant part of the work has already been completed, we are aware that key challenges lie ahead coming period, especially in the context of closing all chapters and not just Chapter 27. With continued close cooperation with the EC, we are confident that we will achieve our goal and take a decisive step towards full EU membership”, said Vitomirovic.
