Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Without satisfied workers there can be no strong state, no economic growth without fair distribution, and no social peace without social justice, Deputy Secretary General of the Union of Free Trade Unions (USSCG) Ivana Mihajlovic said at a rally outside the Government building.
“If they didn’t hear us today, they will hear us even louder tomorrow. If they continue to ignore us, we will be even more prepared and determined,” Mihajlovic said at the rally organized by the USSCG over dissatisfaction with the approach to social dialogue and union demands for wage increases.
She added that attempts to suppress workers’ solidarity are futile, as justice and arguments are on the side of employees.
The USSCG Secretary General Srdja Kekovic told Prime Minister Spajic and ministers that the protest was held to remind them they serve the people, not their personal or party interests.
“The way you treat us is disgraceful. With such an attitude, you cannot lead us into Europe. We will respect you as much as you respect us. We are a country where the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer,” Kekovic warned.
He told Government representatives they should be ashamed that a new OKU has not been signed.
Kekovic called on the Government to meet their demands “and restore this deeply shaken trust.”
He added that, if this call is not understood, they will come forward with much more radical positions than today.
