Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – MPs of the United Reform Action (URA) submitted today to parliamentary procedure a bill to reduce excise duties on fuel by 50 percent over the next three months, starting from 1 April.
The aim is to protect citizens’ living standards and stop the wave of inflation that usually follows fuel price hikes.
The head of the URA parliamentary group URA Miloš Konatar said this was an obligation of the Government and called on it to implement the measure as soon as possible.
Otherwise, Konatar expects the Parliament to urgently schedule a session so that MPs can make a decision on reducing excise duties.
“We are still waiting for the Government. I call on it to reduce excise duties by 50 percent as soon as possible. If the Government will not do it, then Parliament should take on the role and enable citizens to have a stable and normal life, as well as ensure the functioning of the economy,” Konatar said at a press conference.
