URA MPs call on Parliament to support pension increase and compensation for workers

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – MPs of the United Reform Action (URA) have proposed expanding the Parliament’s agenda to include discussions on increasing all pensions by €40 and providing compensation to employees of state-owned companies that have gone bankrupt.

Head of the URA parliamentary group Milos Konatar said that the first regular session of the spring sitting will be held today in Cetinje, and that URA MPs will seek support for their legislative proposals to increase pensions in Montenegro by €40 and to secure severance payments for workers affected by the transition.

Konatar stated that all pensioners would receive pensions increased by €40 starting 1 April of this year, and that no new budget funds are required for this increase this year, while severance payments for former employees of bankrupt state-owned companies would be paid in instalments over the coming years.

“Civic Movement URA will fight to improve the living standards of pensioners and to correct decades-long injustices, which remain one of the key goals of our Montenegro 365 programme,” Konatar concluded.
