Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Allegations questioning the legality and professionalism of the Customs Administration’s work are unfounded and may constitute an indirect attempt to influence customs authorities in carrying out supervision and control activities aimed at protecting Montenegro’s customs territory, representatives of the Administration said.
Responding to claims made by the Association of Transport Operators regarding the work of the Debeli Brijeg Customs Office and other segments of the Customs Administration’s operations, the Administration said it supports the right of businesses to point out challenges they face, but believes the public should be informed on the basis of facts.
“Regardless of such allegations, the Customs Administration will continue to perform its duties professionally, impartially, and strictly in accordance with the law,” the Administration said, adding that the Association of Transport Operators has repeatedly published misinformation about its work.
The Association of Transport Operators of Montenegro has called for urgent measures to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operations at the Debeli Brijeg border crossing 24 hours a day, in the interest of the Montenegrin economy and international transport.
The Customs Administration explained that during the period referred to in the allegations, transit procedures were carried out without disruption and no delays attributable to customs procedures were recorded.
