Telekom preparing for the European roaming market

Telekom preparing for the European roaming market

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Crnogorski Telekom is closely cooperating with the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (EKIP) regarding Montenegro’s integration into the European roaming market, in order to clearly define the conditions that need to be met before the implementation of European rules begins.

“The process of introducing the Roam Like At Home (RLAH) regime for Montenegro requires coordinated activities at the regulatory, technical, and commercial levels,” Crnogorski Telekom told Mina-Business in response to a query on how it is preparing for the country’s inclusion in the European roaming framework.

According to the company, one of the key segments of preparation is related to the future adjustment of retail prices in roaming zones.

“The expected adjustments to tariff models will require comprehensive changes to billing systems, a revision of tariff logic, and alignment of official price lists with the new rules,” Telekom said.

In addition, RLAH also includes a wholesale component introducing regulation of prices that can be agreed with roaming partners.

“It is necessary to align all contracts with the prescribed regulation. This change entails a comprehensive process of reaching agreements on new terms and prices, taking into account projected costs, as well as the contracting and implementation,” Telekom explained.

Furthermore, Telekom expects that the entry into force of the RLAH regime will be accompanied by the alignment of voice service termination rates, in order for RLAH to achieve its full effect, although this component of regulation has not yet been officially communicated.

“Additional engagement from our teams will be required to adjust contracts within this service segment, with the aim of completing the implementation of the entire process,” Telekom added.

The company said that the duration of the overall implementation will depend on the legal and regulatory guidelines to be defined by EKIP, which will serve as the basis for planning technical and commercial activities.
