Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Centre for Economic and European Studies (CEES) will present tomorrow the results of a survey on digital financial literacy and cybersecurity among young people in Montenegro.
CEES stated that the modern financial environment, characterized by rapid technological changes and the expansion of digital services, places significant responsibility on individuals to manage their own finances.
“These issues are particularly important for young people, as this is the stage of life when initial independent financial habits are formed, patterns of money management are developed, and attitudes toward saving, spending, borrowing, and digital security are shaped,” CEES said in a press release.
Key findings of the survey, which provide in-depth insight into how young people aged 15 to 25 make financial decisions and how skilled they are at recognizing risks in the online environment, will be presented by Nina Vujosevic of CEES, Petar Djukanovic of the Civic Education Centre and Vuk Cadjenovic of the DAMAR agency.
The survey places special focus on comparing two key groups, high school students (aged 15 to 18) and young adults (aged 18 to 25), to enable analysis of different levels of financial independence, knowledge, experience, and needs.
In addition to describing the level of knowledge of basic economic concepts, the results also reveal concrete experiences and behaviours related to saving, spending, and digital security, including an analysis of differences by gender and region.
The project “Digital Security for Greater Financial Inclusion of Youth,” implemented by CEES, is supported through the programme “Protection of Rights and Promotion of Digital Citizenship: Montenegrin Digital Shield” (MDS), carried out by CGO in partnership with the SHARE Foundation and in cooperation with the Agency for Audiovisual Media Services, with financial support of the European Union and co-funding from the Ministry of Regional and Investment Development and Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations.
