Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Council of the Supreme Court adopted a decision today in the Telekom case, with the written ruling to be prepared and delivered within the legally prescribed 30-day period.
On 15 May, the Supreme Court ordered the scheduling of a Council meeting, which was held today, in the case formed following a request for the protection of legality submitted by the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office, publicly known as the Telekom case.
According to a press release from the Supreme Court, following today’s Council meeting and after a closed deliberation and vote, a decision was adopted, and its written copy will be prepared and delivered within the statutory deadline of 30 days.
“Given that this is a case attracting great public attention, due to which different actors in public life have in recent months expressed comments, interpretations, and assessments regarding the proceedings and the work of both the Supreme Court and the High Court, the Supreme Court, as the highest court in the country and the institution ensuring the uniform application of the law and equality of all before the law, emphasizes that it decides exclusively on the basis of the Constitution, the law, and the facts contained in the case files, independently of any public, social, or other influence, while protecting the authority of the court, the principle of the rule of law, and citizens’ trust in the independence of the judiciary,” the press release reads.
“The Supreme Court will continue to inform the public transparently, responsibly, and in a timely manner, while taking into account the interests of the proceedings, on issues of significance to the public interest,” the press release concluded.
