Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Members of Parliament from the United Reform Action (URA) expect support from fellow lawmakers for a proposal to establish a parliamentary Inquiry Committee that would examine the facts surrounding the agreement signed with the lessee of Sveti Stefan, the company Adriatic Properties, as well as the Government’s settlement decision.
The party said in a press release that the proposed decision would be formally submitted during the day and delivered to all parliamentary groups.
“The initiative was launched at the request of residents of the Sveti Stefan local community who attended the press conference. The reason lies in the concerns raised regarding the process of adopting previous contracts, annexes, and the settlement decision, as well as the fact that the decision is not publicly available,” the press release reads.
According to URA, residents have been protesting for years against the lease agreement, which prevents them from accessing Sveti Stefan and Milocer, and recently sought support from URA leader Dritan Abazovic.
At a press conference in Parliament, Abazovic explained the initiative, stating that the committee should focus on establishing the facts regarding possible breaches of contractual obligations during the lease period since 2007 and the response of the competent authorities.
He said the committee should also examine the use of state property and facilities, which lacked transparency, as well as the actual financial effects.
