Podgorica, (MINA) - The United States (USA) is Montenegro’s most important strategic partner and the guarantor of a stable international order, said Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimovic during a meeting with US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker.

According to the press release from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MVP), Ibrahimovic met with Whitaker on Thursday, as part of his Western Balkans tour.

According to the press release, Ibrahimovic expressed satisfaction with Whitaker’s visit to Montenegro, stressing the importance of continuous political dialogue between Montenegro and the USA and the alliance within NATO.

Ibrahimovic pointed out that Montenegro’s goal is to close all EU negotiation chapters by the end of the year, as well as to become the EU member by 2028.

“He also emphasized the importance of the NATO alliance as a guarantor of peace and prosperity, stressing that without the USA there can be neither a stable international order nor a strong NATO alliance”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Whitaker emphasized the strong relations between the US and Montenegro and praised Montenegro’s progress, expressing optimism about its continued development and success.
