Strong international support for reforms

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – It was noted during meetings in Washington, D. C, that Montenegro, with technical support, is strengthening its capacity for early identification of fiscal risks and the development of reliable macro-fiscal projections, as a foundation for stable public finance management.

 

During the first day of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) in Washington, D. C., Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic held a series of meetings with key international partners, confirming Montenegro’s position as a credible participant in global economic flows. 

 

At a meeting with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), led by Regional Vice President for Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean Alfonso García Mora, support was confirmed for the development of infrastructure, energy, tourism, and agriculture.

 

The Ministry stated that the IFC particularly welcomed the Government’s decision on concessions for the airports in Podgorica and Tivat as an important step toward modernization and strengthening competitiveness.

 

At a meeting with Deputy Director of the MF Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) Ira Danla-Norris, it was concluded that Montenegro, with technical support, is enhancing its capacity for early detection of fiscal risks and the preparation of reliable macro-fiscal projections, as the basis for stable public finance management. 

 

Montenegro’s Finance Minister also participated in a Constituency meeting chaired by Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Jan Jambon, with the participation of European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, where global economic trends and strengthening cooperation among Constituency members were discussed, reaffirming Montenegro’s importance in international dialogue.
