Stable destination image needs stronger promotion

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Chamber of the Tourism and Hospitality Association Board of the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) Ranko Jovovic, Montenegro must do more to capitalize on its image as a safe and stable tourist destination, while improving coordination between institutions and the tourism industry in preparing for the season and addressing long-standing challenges.

Speaking at a Board meeting held at IPC Tehnopolis in Niksic, which was attended by representatives of institutions, local tourism organizations, the tourism sector, and the innovation community, Jovovic said that long-standing issues include border congestion, traffic gridlock, and labour shortages.

PKCG said in a press release that the meeting focused on the promotion of Niksic’s tourism potential, the activities of IPC Tehnopolis, the development of congress and sustainable tourism, digitalization and innovation in tourism industry, and infrastructure challenges affecting the competitiveness of Montenegro as a tourist destination.

Jovovic highlighted the challenges facing the tourism sector, noting that the first quarter saw a decline in tourist arrivals, overnight stays, and revenue from foreign visitors.

He emphasized that Montenegro’s tourism industry should focus on improving the quality of its products, increasing the length of visitors’ stays, and encouraging higher tourist spending.
