Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said the state has done absolutely everything it could at this moment to protect citizens and the economy, and to ease inflationary pressures that are external in nature.
During Prime Minister’s Questions in Parliament, he stated that the situation regarding fuel prices is very serious.
“I hope the situation in the Middle East will be resolved soon and that peace will be restored, so that we can talk about other topics,” Spajic said, responding to a question from Europe Now Movement MP Vasilije Carapic.
Replying to a question about the effects of measures taken to mitigate rising fuel prices and protect citizens’ living standards, Spajic recalled that the Government had reduced fuel excise duties.
He added that the price of diesel will exceed €1.6 from tomorrow, but will still remain well below prices across the region.
Spajić also referred to statements by regional leaders who expect that diesel prices could rise to as much as €2.6 per liter. According to him, there are also warnings from major financial institutions and oil companies that a ground invasion or other actions in the Middle East could push Brent crude prices above $200, even up to $300.
