Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Government supports wage increases for all workers in Montenegro, Prime Minister Milojko Spajic reiterated while commenting on whether there had been any developments regarding negotiations on the General Collective Agreement.
Asked by reporters whether there was anything new regarding the General Collective Agreement, given that he had earlier announced he expected a new round of negotiations with social partners, Spajic replied that the Government fully supports wage increases, but for all workers in Montenegro.
“We will not treat the public and private sectors differently. That will not happen during this Government’s term. When employers and trade unions reach a solution that is in the interests of the state and the citizens of Montenegro, we will absolutely accept it,” Spajic said at Villa Gorica, where he met with representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The General Collective Agreement, which regulates labour rights for around 100,000 employees who are not covered by sectoral agreements, has expired, and trade unions organized a protest in front of the Government building following failed negotiations on concluding a new agreement.
