Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Sahmanovic and newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Podgorica Ajda Unlu agreed that Montenegro and Turkiye have significant potential for closer bilateral economic cooperation, particularly through concrete investment projects and the exchange of experience in the field of energy transition.
They agreed that Montenegro and Turkey maintain good and very friendly relations, based on mutual respect and partnership.
“However, it is a shared conclusion that in the field of economic cooperation there is always additional room for improvement,” the Ministry of Energy and Mining said in a press release.
It was noted at the meeting that stable political relations provide a strong framework for deepening investment and economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector, which is one of Montenegro’s strategic development priorities.
Sahmanovic informed Unla about Montenegro’s key strategic goals in the energy transition process, highlighting the country’s commitment to decarbonizing the energy system, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and accelerating investments in renewable energy sources.
He added that Montenegro is intensively working on creating a stable investment environment for the implementation of solar and wind energy projects, as well as other “green” energy sources, in full alignment with European legislation and environmental protection standards.
The two officials exchanged views on opportunities to strengthen cooperation through the involvement of Turkish companies in renewable energy development projects, modernization of energy infrastructure, and improvements in energy efficiency, with mutual interest in long-term and sustainable partnerships.
