Podgorica, (MINA) – Police officers have detained several individuals in Niksic, including an employee of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office (ODT) in that town, over a video showing the movement of the escort vehicles of Chief of Police Lazar Scepanovic, which was published on social media. 

In a press release, the police said that officers identified several individuals, including the person who recorded and shared the video showing the movement of the escort vehicles of a protected person in Niksic.

“Several individuals have been brought in, including an associate employed at the ODT in Niksic Z.R., to whom, it is suspected, S.Dj. forwarded the footage he had previously recorded, which was subsequently shared on social media,” the press release reads.

It added that digital devices had been seized from Z.R. and S.Dj. and would be subject to further forensic IT examination, and that, following all police and prosecutorial procedures, relevant expert analyses and the collection of evidence, the Niksic ODT would determine the legal qualification of the case.

“The Police Administration is undertaking intensive activities to identify all security threats, monitor the movements of serious and organised crime, and suppress hybrid activities and propaganda carried out by interest groups with the support of organised crime,” the statement said.

The police added that individuals, either within the police itself and in other institutions, that obstruct processes, hinder the administration of justice and provide logistical support to organised crime with the aim of destabilising the overall social environment will be identified.
