Scepanovic: Three individuals arrested for monitoring police officers

Podgorica, (MINA) - Montenegrin police arrested N.Z. and M.M. from Herceg Novi, while they are searching for their fellow citizen V.L, who are suspected of conducting counter-surveillance activities by monitoring police officers and police vehicles using sophisticated electronic equipment and remote devices.

Director of the Police Administration, Lazar Scepanovic, said at a press conference that they managed to thwart the activities of a branch of a high-risk criminal group that operates in the southern, central and western parts of the country.

He said that the group carried out counter-surveillance measures, preventing the evidence collection by law enforcement authorities, resolving unsolved crimes and locating internationally wanted fugitives.

“Searches were carried out at 14 locations, in Budva, Bar and Herceg Novi. A large amount of digital equipment, devices, and vehicles were seized”, announced Scepanovic.

He said that a member of a high-risk group was arrested, who was at large due to the court’s failure to issue first-instance verdicts and repeatedly violated the supervision measure, to which the courts remained silent.

“Using the application, they monitored at least six police vehicles, as well as the activities of one police official in the southern region”, Scepanovic said.

He added that this operation confirms the determination of the police and the prosecutor’s office in the fight against organized crime, calling on the judicial institutions to act more efficiently and issue verdicts within the deadlines prescribed by law.
