Scepanovic: Police committed to solving Jovanovic murder case

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Police Administration and the State Prosecutor’s Office operational team is committed to solving the murder of Dan daily editor-in-chief Dusko Jovanovic, said police director Lazar Scepanovic, adding that they are determined to solve the crime and ensure that justice is served.

“On this day, on the 22nd anniversary of Jovanovic’s murder, we remember not only one life that was tragically ended, but also a time in which darkness, the mafia and crime attempted to be stronger than the state and the law”, Scepanovic said in a press release.

According to him, this crime still remains a reminder of the period of institutional weakness in Montenegro, of the time when organized crime and the mafia were stronger than the institutions, and the most serious crimes were planned and carried out with the belief that no one would be held accountable for them.

“Today, we are determined and unwavering in our intention to resolve this crime and to, no matter how long the wait, serve the justice”, Scepanovic pointed out.

He said that the state owes the truth to Jovanovic’s family, his colleagues, but also to every citizen who believes in justice and the rule of law.

“The Police Administration, together with the prosecutor’s office, has been using numerous resources and capacities to resolve this crime, which, understandably, we cannot speak about publicly at this stage in order to protect the criminal investigation, with the belief that our efforts, by applying and exhausting all legal mechanisms and resources, will lead to the anticipated and more concrete results”, the press release reads.
