Podgorica, (MINA) – President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic has become a blocker of every essential security sector reform, said Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Saranovic.
Saranovic said that by returning the Law on Internal Affairs for reconsideration, Milatovic did not do anything new, but once again confirmed a pattern long recognized by the public.
“He became a well-known blocker of any essential security sector reform. We saw the same pattern in the summer of 2024, when he returned the amendments to the Law on Internal Affairs, basing his reasoning on claims that have been completely disproven since then”, said Saranovic.
He stressed that the fact that he never apologized to the citizens for the missteps taken at that time speaks volumes about his attitude towards the public.
“When he should have stood by reforms, he stood by obstructions. When he should have stood by the state, he sided with those who have been using the state for their own interests”, Saranovic added.
According to him, members of the parliamentary majority demonstrated in the first round of voting that they cannot be influenced by power centers, interest structures, or any criminal interest that interferes with reforms, professionalization and cleaning of the system.
“They will demonstrate this resilience again in the re-vote, because this majority is building the security sector according to the standards of the state and all its citizens, not according to the preferences of privileged individuals”, Saranovic pointed out.
