Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Pljevlja Coalmine (RUP) has signed an annex to its direct coal supply contract with Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), which will remain valid until the end of next year.
The contract was signed by RUP’s Executive Director Nemanja Lakovic and EPS General Director Dusan Zivkovic.
“The annex secures the placement of coal generated during the regular overburden removal process. By improving geotechnical conditions within the mine, greater efficiency and the long-term sustainability of exploitation will be ensured, and RUP will be ready to fully meet its contractual obligations to EPS by the end of next year,” the company said in a press release.
Under the agreed terms, the delivery of 100,000 tons of lignite is envisaged at a price of €8 per kilojoule, which, based on the current calorific value, amounts to approximately €80 per ton.
“We expect revenues of between €4 million and €5 million from this deal, making it one of the larger contracts for the Coalmine in recent years,” RUP said.
