Podgorica, (MINA) - A successful EU path requires focus, determination and an even more intensive pace of development across all sectors in the next ten months, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said, adding that the rule of law and the final benchmarks in Chapters 23 and 24 remain key to the process.
Spajic wrote on the X social network that he and Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorcevic met with Gert Jan Koopman, Director General for Enlargement at the European Commission, to discuss the results achieved so far and the next steps in Montenegro’s EU accession process.
“The rule of law and the final benchmarks in chapters 23 and 24 remain the key to the process, with encouraging progress already visible through legislative changes and specific court rulings”, Spajic pointed out.
He said that the European future of the country depends on serious decisions and efficient public administration.
“That is why our partners recommend that this year we strengthen the operational capacities of the police, inspections, agencies and other public services with 1,750 new employees, and next year with an additional 1,250”, said Spajic.
