Podgorica, (MINA) - Concrete results in the fight against organized crime strengthen confidence and confirm that Montenegro is a credible partner, said newly appointed U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Michael Keays during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Aleks Becic.
According to the press release from Becic’s office, Keays pointed out that the U.S. security institutions, including the FBI, DEA and State Department through their INL programs, expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with Montenegro, especially in the fight against organized crime.
“He emphasized that the concrete results in that area further strengthen trust and confirm Montenegro as a credible partner. He particularly emphasized the importance of strengthening defense capacities, praising the opening of the new Navy command building in Bar, which leads to strengthening Montenegro’s operability and integrity as a reliable NATO member”, the press release said.
Keays said that the US is ready to continue providing strong technical and expert support in reform processes aimed at strengthening the fight against transnational organized crime and enhancing Montenegro’s capacity as a NATO member.
Becic pointed out that Montenegro and the USA are reliable allies who share common values and continue to strengthen strategic cooperation in many fields.
He thanked the USA for its support in numerous initiatives, training programs, as well as strengthening the capacities of Montenegro’s defense and security system.
