Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Tenants’ Association has submitted legal requests and initiatives related to the Velje Brdo project in order to protect rights and ensure a fair and transparent housing allocation.
The Association submitted a request for access to information to the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, asking for the complete project documentation, the draft rulebook on housing allocation, the number and structure of registered citizens, the financing model, and all internal instructions.
A submission was also sent to the Ombudsman due to suspicions of discrimination and a lack of transparency in the application and allocation process, particularly because a large number of tenants, including more than two thousand requests submitted to the Association, did not have a real opportunity to apply through the Government’s online platform.
“We call on the relevant authorities to urgently publish the rulebook on housing allocation and include the Association in overseeing the project, in order to protect citizens’ rights and ensure a fair and transparent housing allocation,” the Association said in a press release.
They added that Velje Brdo must not become a new “hill of rentiers.”
