Podgorica, (MINA) – Bilateral relations between Montenegro and the United States are an example of a stable and meaningful partnership, based on strong political trust and intensive cooperation at all levels.

This was stated at a meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanovic and Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Montenegro, Michael Keays.

Ivanovic, according to the press release issued by his cabinet, welcomed Keays, the temporary head of the diplomatic mission, expressing confidence that the strong partnership between Montenegro and the USA will continue to develop through open political dialogue and concrete joint initiatives.

"The interlocutors assessed that the bilateral relations between the two countries represent an example of a stable and substantive partnership, based on strong political trust and intensive cooperation at all levels”, the press release reads.

According to the press release, special attention was paid to progress in the drafting of the intergovernmental agreement between the two countries, with mutual confirmation of readiness to finalize and sign the document as soon as possible.

Extremely good cooperation in the field of defense and security was emphasized.

Keays conveyed the readiness of the State Department to further strenghten the partnership between the two countries in the period ahead.
