Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Montenegro’s Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) has called on the Government to urgently use its legal authority to reduce fuel excise duties in order to ease the financial burden on citizens.
DPS Presidency member Nikola Rakocevic said today that the latest increase in fuel prices would not only lead to higher prices at petrol stations but would also drive up the cost of food and services.
“A few days ago, we received the decision, which takes effect today, that fuel prices will increase significantly. By adopting this decision, the Government has made life more expensive for citizens and further weakened their standard of living,” Rakocevic said at a press conference.
According to him, this does not only mean higher fuel prices at the pumps, but also increases in the prices of basic foodstuffs.
Rakocevic argued that citizens are being forced to tighten their belts.
